Billie is a graduate of Missouri State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Drafting & Design, and minored in Interior Design specializing in Historic Preservation. This course of study allowed Billie to complete an internship at an historic house museum under renovation and also to spend a summer studying historic architecture in England, France and Spain. Billie’s first job out of college was as a drafting instructor at a business college. She taught architectural drafting, mechanical drafting and mathematics courses. She also helped to develop curriculum and programs.

Billie spent the next several years in the corporate world working for AT&T. Throughout her 14 year career Billie was recognized repeatedly for leadership and outstanding performance. These many years of corporate experience provided her with strong business skills and a career background unique for a design professional. But remodeling has always been her passion. During those years in the corporate world, Billie remodeled four homes of her own and provided remodeling ideas, consulting and assistance to countless friends, neighbors and family members.

In 1999 Billie made a career decision to leave the corporate world and pursue her life-long interest in remodeling, renovation and interior design. She designs all types of projects including room additions, kitchens & baths (remodeled and new home), attic conversions, and more. Her unique blend of design sense and construction knowledge has prepared her well for remodeling design work. Having planned and lived through several major remodeling projects, Billie is keenly aware of the ups and downs of the process and frequently imparts her personal experiences to clients she consults with. Her favorite story is about growing up in a house under construction that her father started the summer she was born and finished just after her 21st birthday. This story is always of particular interest to potential do-it-your-selfer clients.

Billie is an active member of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), serving four years on the board of directors as a National Board Representative and Chairperson of the Remodeled Homes Tour committee and currently on the Education Committee. She is actively involved in the chapter on many levels. In 1999 she was appointed by the Mayor to serve on the Kansas City, Missouri Landmarks Commission – a board that oversees and preserves the integrity of the historic neighborhoods and landmarks in Kansas City, serving in this capacity for seven years. In 2006 Billie earned Certified Kitchen Designer status from the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) after completing a minimum of 7 years of professional design & remodeling experience and a difficult examination process. She resides and works in Prairie Village.
